Abstract: The implementation of traditional air quality monitoring systems has been done with the help of air quality measuring sensors, Zigbee module, a suitable 16 bit microcontroller, GSM module, and GPS module. It also helps to monitor from any remote location by using GSM module. On the other hand, the traditional system poses some drawbacks like increased power consumption by the ZigBee module, less processing capacity of 16 bit microcontroller and increased implementation cost for incorporating GSM and GPS module. Later, an IoT based monitoring system has been developed to measure the air quality but monitoring and gathering the data from multiple nodes and displaying it in single database becomes more complicated. The node failures may also happen if the particular node losses the internet connection and results in consuming more latency time. The proposed model can be used to efficiently monitor the air quality by using LoRa LPWAN (Low-Power WAN) gateways. The major advantages of the proposed method are low power consumption, easy gathering of data from multiple nodes, high processing speed, reduced cost and low latency time. After getting all the parameter values to display the 20X4 LCD Display locally and upload any one IoT Cloud platform. Abstract: The need for the soil in agriculture is crucial and its role is prominent. But the process of urbanization takes away the land in larger areas. So continuous cropping on the rest of the land makes the soil to lose its fertility as all the nutrients are consumed. In quest of an alternative solution, we have gone through the Hydroponics. In this paper, we integrate IoT into our solution and also reduce power consumption by utilizing Solar Energy. Hydroponics is a special type of farming where the growth of plants takes place in a soil-free medium, provided with a blend of water along with nutrients. As an alternative for soil, we are here using Rockwool as support for plants to withstand. We provide the water with nutrients required by the plant, the plants do not have to call for root system on the lookout for water, nutrients, oxygen. In this process, the plant is permitted to spend its energy on its production. Hydroponics allows us to make farms in certain locations where conditions of soil are too poor to support farming, space is limited. The IoT system continuously monitors the farm and also displays the data with regards to the plant growth by which we can get the values of pH,water level, temperature, and humidity in the hydroponic reservoir. The role of pH sensor is main as we are using nutrient-enriched water. The initiation of IoT in Hydroponics assists farmers, by keeping an eye on the plant growth by delivering information regarding the aspects of the water, humidity, temperature. The respective statistics are achieved through cloud-connected sensors.

Abstract: The Internet of Things [IoT] is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data. The number of IoT devices has increased 31% year-over-year to 8.4 billion in 2017 and it is estimated that there will be 30 billion devices by 2020. Water pollution is a major environmental problem in India. The largest source of water pollution in India is untreated sewage. Other sources of pollution include agricultural runoff and unregulated small scale industry that results in polluting, most of the rivers, lakes and surface water in India. In this paper, An IoT Based Smart Water Quality Monitoring System using Cloud and Deep Learning is proposed to monitor the quality of the water in water-bodies. In conventional systems, the monitoring process involves the manual collection of sample water from various regions, followed by laboratory testing and analysis. This process is ineffective, as this process is arduous and time-consuming and it does not provide real-time results. The quality of water should be monitored continuously, to ensure the safe supply of water from any water bodies and water resources. Hence, the design and development of a low-cost system for real-time monitoring of water quality using the Internet of Things [IoT] is essential. Monitoring water quality in water bodies using Internet of Things [IoT] helps in combating environmental issues and improving the health and living standards of all living things. The proposed system monitors the quality of water relentlessly with the help of IoT devices, such as, NodeMCU. The in-built Wi-Fi module is attached in NodeMCU which enables internet connectivity transfers the measured data from sensors to the Cloud. The prototype is designed in such a way that it can monitor the number of pollutants in the water. Multiple sensors are used to measure various parameters to assess the quality of water from water bodies. The results are stored in the Cloud, deep learning techniques are used to predict whether the water suitable or not.

Abstract: The growing population brings with it a problem of scarce natural resources. As a consequence, man-made resources such as electricity are not able to cope up and face the uphill task of catering to the rapidly increasing demand. Over the last decades various measures have been taken to improve the equipment and system design to improve efficiency of production, transmission and reduce power consumption. With the ushering of the digital era, microcontrollers and the internet through the Internet of Things (IoT) are the next level of tools in tackling the power crunch. By providing real-time information on the various parameters of the system and equipment, it allows for more radical and precise techniques for improving power system utilization thereby easing the demand on natural resources. Focusing on the endpoint domestic consumers, the Smart Power Socket aims at not only providing ease of control of household devices in a simple plug-and-play configuration, but also provides useful consumption/utilization data which familys can use for reducing electricity costs. With further digitization and implementation of IoT systems in the power domain, these systems can then be bolted onto the overall system, giving the power producers more in-depth insight into consumption patterns and aid in the design of better production systems and distribution systems

Abstract: The term Air Pollution generally refers to the outdoor air pollution, mainly caused by combustion of fossil fuels by industrial plants, smog, and emissions from cars and trucks. But the air indoors can also be polluted. Indoor air pollution refers to the contamination of indoor air. It may cause harmful health issues. The main sources of indoor air pollution are pesticides, chimneys which contain pollutants such as particulate matter, biomass smoke, fireplaces, moulds, and environmental tobacco smoke. The pollutants are nitrogen dioxide(NO2), Ammonia, sulphur dioxide(SO2), radon, carbon monoxide(CO), carbon dioxide (CO2) and benzene. In this Internet of Things(IoT) project, wireless air pollution monitoring system is built, which sends alerts to the user by using the Internet, when the concentration of pollutants measured goes beyond safer level. This system can be preferred over the existing systems because the alerts sent by the system can be received by the user on mobile phone from any distance irrespective of whether it is connected to the Internet. The microcontroller used is the NodeMCU Dev board v1.0 which consist of ESP8266, Wi-Fi enabled chip. The sensor used is MQ135, air quality sensor, which along with microcontroller can be used to monitor the pollution indoors.

Abstract: Traffic congestion and accidents are mainly due to pathetic condition of road. The most common form of distress on such roads are potholes, which can compromise safety, and result in vehicle damage. Repairing the roads on regular bases will ensure the drivers safety and helps reduction in vehicle damage. There are many methods existing for pothole detection which use sophisticated equipment and algorithms. Due to the huge data computation such processes are slow and power consuming. In this paper, we propose an efficient depthbased pothole detection technique without any high computation and processing. In the proposed method we use the depth calculated by ultrasonic sensor as a base for detecting the pothole and there after its location is sent to mail. The results indicate that this method can be used in identification of potholes and maintaining the roads in proper condition.

Abstract: As the world is progressing towards a digital era, technology is being used very judiciously to bring about advancements and also to improve the human lifestyle. Avoiding the implementation of these technological advancements in current lifestyle is like rowing a boat without a paddle. The basic focus is on having the smart sensors to join forces without human participation in order to deliver a new class of applications. The implementation of a smart bin plays an inevitable role in this process. This project aims at the implementation of a smart dustbin using an esp8266 module that has two main pins the trigger pin and the echo pin which are connected to the sensor. It helps to keep the surroundings clean and also help in reducing human labor. The lid / cover of the smart bin open when it detects an object on top of it. This is because of the ultrasonic sensor which is placed both on the top as well as the bottom of the lid. Once the trash has exceeded the set threshold value, the information is sent to another node which is raspberry-pi and this node prints the respective house number onto the monitor with the help of socket programming. For instance, if the timings for collecting the waste in a society is 8 in the morning and 6 in the evening, the person collecting the waste needs to monitor and approach only those houses whose number is being displayed on the screen.

Abstract: As it is known many people like to keep pets as they feel the atmosphere of the house becomes enlightened. They maybe terrestrial like dogs, cats, cows, etc. or birds like parrots, love birds, etc. or maybe aquatic animals like fishes. Also, study has proved that having a fish in the house can help the viewer to relax, reduce stress and it also maintains a good atmosphere at home. Taking care of dogs, cats, etc. is somewhat simpler than that of fishes. But fishes require extra care when it comes to checking the clarity of water, the amount of food that is fed to them, time intervals at which the food is being fed as well as any slight changes in the temperature. Abstract: The current urban planning trend is to build smart cities that are advanced, safe and sustainable. To build these cities several technologies could be exploited including the Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing. This motivated us to develop an IoT-based fire alarm system that uses edge computing. The developed system would be suitable in smart cities, as it mitigates issues faced by the existing fire alarm systems like installation overhead and lack of remote warning. Our system is an ad-hoc network of several sensing nodes and a single central node. Each of these sensing nodes consists of an ESP8266-nodeMCU connected to different types of sensors, such as smoke, temperature, humidity, flame, Methane and Carbon Monoxide (CO) sensors. These nodes are responsible for sensing the environment and detecting fire which means that they are smart end nodes and hence satisfying one of the characteristics of edge computing. The nodes transfer their readings to a centralized node that was implemented with a Raspberry Pi computer. Communication between the sensing node and the central node is through Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol which is carried via a bridge node. When a node detects fire, it signals the centralized node to alert the user and the fire department using the attached 4G module. An SMS is sent to them and the user is called. Users can inquire about the status of their home by sending an SMS. A prototype for the system performed the desired functionalities successfully with an average delay of less than 30 seconds and a node coverage of 1400m2

Abstract: Energy-saving techniques play a key role, as there is a huge demand for electricity in the present situation due to increased population, urbanization and industrialization. Hence, energy monitoring techniques are becoming more prominent. Therefore, a considerable amount of research work is in progress for energy conservation. By using the Internet of Things, we can save energy to a great extent. This paper addresses the calculation of the energy consumption of a load. In this paper, we have proposed a low-cost energy monitoring system, which is used for saving a significant amount of energy by identifying the devices that are consuming excessive power and the devices can be turned off by using MIT Platform based App. The Wi-Fi enabled ESP8266 based circuit connected to the load, calculates the consuming energy and the user can observe the real values of consumed energy continuously by using the IP address generated by the Wifi module in the ESP8266. Hence, a significant amount of power can be saved using the proposed energy monitoring system. The problem with conventional energy monitoring is these methods only calculate the energy consumption of the loads but, using the proposed method the user can turn off the device, which is consuming excessive power.

Abstract: The monitoring of water level in the agriculture irrigation channels is essential to control the opening gates of these channels. In this way, WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks) have high relevance to obtain this kind of data. In this paper, we propose a sensor to measure the depth changes in irrigation channels to control the gates opening. It is connected to an Adafruit Feather HUZZAH based on ESP8266, which allows us to build a mobile edge computing system. The developed sensor is based on two coils. Sinus-wave powers the first one, and the second is induced. The coils are winding over a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) that has high resistance for corrosion and low price. Besides, we use copper wire as a conductive metal. We test two different configurations of coils. P1 has five spires for the powered coil (PC) and ten spires for the induced coil (IC). On the other hand, P2 has 40 spires for the PC and 80 spires for the IC. The two prototypes were coiled in one layer. Then, both sensors are tested using a glass bottle where the water column increased with the target to obtain the information of the depth. In both prototypes, the difference of voltage between the maximum and minimum studied depths is more or less the same, 4.46V for P1 and 4.44V for P2. Nevertheless, during the stabilization test, the P1 showed better adaptation for the turbulences than the P2. The P1 shows an oscillation of 0.48V, where the P2 has a maximum fluctuation of 3.2V.

Abstract: This paper describes an internet of things (IoT)- based parking sensing system that deploys a robust outdoor vehicle localization and recognition methodologies. Although, parking occupancy monitoring systems have made a considerable progress, smart parking payment is rarely studied in smart parking research. This paper proposes a new low-cost sensor system allowing real-time parking occupancy monitoring along with parking payment without requiring any user/driver interaction. The proposed on-board vehicle transceiver device (VTD) sensor, will be deployed without having to install new components on each parking lot. It has benefits in terms of detection and payment reliability, and reduced expense by reducing the system complexity, infrastructure investment, and battery replacement expense. A robust vehicle recognition and parking occupancy monitoring is achieved using two-fold sensing approach. It is a sequence of motion detector and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) sensing techniques. The sensor is triggered when the vehicle is within a parking area thanks to a proposed radio frequency (RF) wake-up technique. As consequence, the energy consumption is optimized and the VTD has a power saving scheme with a power consumption as low as 20 µW at 3 V supply. The VTD can be seamlessly integrated into the intelligent vehicular ad-hoc networks (inVANETs).

Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data. In this paper, An IoT Based Smart Water Quality Monitoring System using Cloud and Deep Learningis proposedto monitor the quality of the water in water-bodies. In conventional systems, the monitoring process involves the manual collection of sample water from various regions, followed by laboratory testing and analysis. This process is ineffective, as this process is arduous and timeconsuming and it does not provide real-time results. The quality of water should be monitored continuously, to ensure the safe supply of water from any water bodies and water resources. Hence, the design and development of a low-cost system for real-time monitoring of water quality using the Internet of Things (IoT) is essential. Monitoring water quality in water bodies using Internet of Things (IoT) helps in combating environmental issues and improving the health and living standards of all living things.
